Georgette Heyer: Audiobook Reviews
Georgette Heyer: Audiobook Reviews
There's been a recent flurry of new audiobook versions for Georgette Heyer books. I have been steadily trying out old and new versions for my tried and tested comfort treats.
I will keep updating this list as and when there are more reviews to share.
+++++++++
Devil's Cub, narrated by Michael Maloney
Rating: 5 of 5 (or even higher)
This book has been a favorite of mine. More comedy than romance, it's not for Heyer fans who prefer the "pure" romance more than comedy.
You get the feeling that Michael Maloney enjoyed himself a LOT when narrating it. Superlative range of voices for the huge cast of characters. I will probably repeatedly listen to it every few years. Absolutely loved it to pieces!

Regency Buck, narrated by Jasmine Blackborow
Rating: 3 of 5
The book has not been one of my favorites, though I am sure it is historically accurate enough and has romance to boot. Jasmine Blackborow as the narrator represents the FMC's voice quite well, but as most of the characters are male, that is noticeably difficult for the audiobook narrator to manage. Gave up in the middle. Bummer!

Bath Tangle, narrated by Poppy Gilbert
Rating: 3.5 of 5
If only this book had a more likable main OTP couple. Still, it had its funny moments that made me chuckle. Managed to finish it because the narrator did manage a decent range of voices, but probably not an audiobook that I will ever listen to again.

Frederica, narrated by Joe Jameson
Rating: 5 of 5
A wonderful book made even more wonderful by the narrator. Equal parts comedy, romance and found family warmth. Great range of voices by the narrator Joe Jameson for the HUGE cast of characters, both old and young. I will probably repeatedly listen to it every few years. Brilliant stuff!
