I had vague memories of reading this romance book several years back, and I had stopped reading it after the MMC, Marquess of Dain, did something really terrible to the FMC, and then the FMC shot him with a gun. My younger impressionable self had no hopes for this OTP at the time and I marked it as DNF.

But then someone on Reddit recommended it again as Femme Fatale + Himbo pairing.... WHUT? That was not at all how I remembered it. Given that this book has repeatedly been on the Top 100 Romances of All Time lists, I thought I would give it a try again, this time as the audiobook narrated by Kate Reading.

This was my first Kate Reading audiobook, and it changed my world! She has such a wonderful voice, with so much range and depth, with the ability to manage so many dialects across gender and age. You would never be confused on who is saying what. The same OTP that I had earlier disliked, now became scorching hot, helluva amusing and totally fun. I've become a fan of this book, and will probably listen to the audiobook every few years. It's that good.
